Do you agree with panda hunting?
Do you turn all of your lights off before you leave your house?
We asked a zoo keeper these questions about giant pandas:
How long does it take for a panda to be born? Gestation ( which is the time from when the baby is made to when it is born) is between 97 - 181 days, with an average of about 135 days.
What do pandas mostly do in the daytime? Ten to twelve hours a day are spent feeding on bamboo.
What is their favourite food? The panda has a diet which is 99% bamboo. Pandas also eat other foods such as honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges and bananas when available.
Do pandas need a lot of shade? The Bamboo that the Pandas eat to survive needs to grow in the shade so in a way yes they do need shade.
How old does a panda normally live to? Giant Pandas can usually live to be 20-30 years old in captivity.
How do pandas show affection? Giant pandas are usually solitary (which means they like to be alone), except during the mating season. Do pandas have soft fur? The fur coat of the Giant Panda isn't that soft. This outercoat is 2 inches (5cm) thick. Underneath is another layer that feels oily. These two layers keep out the cold during winter. They clean their fur once in awhile by licking and combing out the dirt by the claws. Do they get aggressive easily? Giant pandas (like any other bear) can become aggressive when they feel threatened by something else. The females are known to be very protective of their young babies.
